Experience Holy Week in Querétaro

Querétaro is preparing for the Holy Week festivities, it is one of the most important celebrations of the year for the Catholic Church, and as every year the city offers different experiences to live and be part of these events.

Queretaro

The Diocese of Querétaro announced a series of events from April 10 to 17. In the churches of the capital of Querétaro, Palm Sunday will be celebrated on April 10, with this symbol Holy Week begins.

On Monday, April 11, the Romancero de la Via Dolorosa will be held at 8:00 p.m., in the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Paz; on Tuesday 12 at 9:00 p.m. the celebration of this event will be in the Temple of the Holy Cross of Miracles; while on Wednesday 13 it will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish of San Francisco de Asis.

On Friday, April 15, the traditional Procession of Silence will be held at 6:00 p.m., as is customary it will go through some of the main streets of the Historic Center, starting at the Temple of the Holy Cross of Miracles.

The Burning of Judas will take place on Sunday, April 17 at the Andador 5 de Mayo, next to the Temple of San Francisco, at 8:30 p.m.

The municipality of El Marqués reported that the celebrations will be held after two years of not doing them, however they invite that, for preventive health measures, the transmission of them via social networks be followed, since the capacity will be limited for the performances.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of this religious festival in the community of La Cañada, a tradition for the entire state. The performances will begin on Sunday, April 10 to celebrate Palm Sunday.

The Association of the Passion of the Lord, Sanctuary of El Pueblito has planned various religious activities on Friday, April 8 and Sunday, April 17, among which the official representation of the Passion of the Lord on Friday, April 15 stands out. The entire program can be consulted on the official Facebook page of the association, and going with the family to these activities can be the ideal occasion to enjoy some of the jewels that El Pueblito has to offer. San Juan del Río

As far as the municipality of San Juan del Río is concerned, the festivities for the festive dates will begin on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, with the Garnacha Fest 2022 to be held in Las Garzas Park, both days from 2 p.m. There will be gastronomy, crafts, music and activities for the whole family.

On the religious level, on Friday 15 the traditional Via Crusis will be held at 10:00 a.m., this will leave the parish atrium on 2 de Abril Street.

On Sunday 17 there will be a procession on the Zaragoza walkway, while the Eucharistic celebration will be held at the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Jalpan de Serra and Arroyo Seco

In the capital of the Sierra Gorda, the cultural week "Roots and Traditions" will be held, from April 17 to 24, in which there will be an artisan corridor, the 12th Gastronomic Exhibition of Nopal and Maguey, the election of The Most Beautiful Flower of the Countryside 2022, the presentation of The Largest Basket in Mexico, the 21st Recreational and Sport Fishing Tournament of Bass, among other events and activities, both cultural and sports. If you are going to enjoy holidays during the holy days and Easter, you are facing the perfect opportunity to visit the Sierra Gorda, base yourself in Jalpan de Serra, where you can enjoy a unique festive atmosphere, and visit its historical museum, take a getaway to the forest of El Cedral in Pinal de Amoles, or take a visit to the Ayutla River, in Arroyo Seco, where the famous and traditional Ayutlazo will also be celebrated, from April 14 to 16.

Saint Joaquin

San Joaquín starts its vacation activities early, as the 2022 Huapango National Dance Contest is held, from April 7 to 9, in which hundreds of people from different parts of the country come together to enjoy this traditional music and dance, in one of the most important huapanguero events in the country. Quickly, from Palm Sunday, April 10, San Joaquín will change the festivity and jubilation to give space to religious contemplation, with various activities that will extend throughout the week, including a Via Crusis, on Friday, April 15, at 12 noon.

Tequisquiapan

In Tequisquipan, between April 14 and 24, a whole Cultural Program will be held that will offer various activities that will be the perfect excuse for you to visit this famous Magical Town. Music and dance, mainly, will take over the main kiosk and the Plaza Santa Cecilia, in activities that will begin, every day, from 6 in the afternoon. A good way to take advantage of the visit to Tequisquiapan is to visit the restaurants that make this destination the third Magical Town to live a culinary experience in the entire country, or go with the boys of the house to the miniature museum.

Cadereyta de Montes

For the long weekend, in Cadereyta de Montes the celebration of the Artisan Snow Fair is planned, which will take place from April 15 to 17, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., this on the main esplanade of the Municipal Presidency. This event, for the whole family, is a perfect occasion to enjoy a weekend in the interior of the state.

Huimilpan

In Huimilpan, in various communities of the municipality, from Palm Sunday to Holy Thursday, Friday and Holy Saturday, and of course on Easter Sunday, various activities organized by the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel will be carried out. If you go on the weekend, do not hesitate to have breakfast at the famous Los Leyva Barbecue, or get to know the forests that it shares with Amealco de Bonfil, such as La Beata or Lagunas de Servín.

Ezequiel Montes

The Parish of Divine Providence, in Ezequiel Montes, has planned various activities that begin on Palm Sunday, April 10, and extend throughout the week, highlighting among them the Living Via Crusis that begins in the Chapel of San Isidro in La Laguna, on Good Friday, April 15.

Penamiller

In Peñamiller various activities will be carried out within the framework of religious celebrations, from Palm Sunday on April 1 with the traditional blessing, to Holy Thursday, April 14, with the representation of the play "The Martyr of Górgota", the Via Crusis and its own Procession of Silence on Good Friday. April 15, and the closures of religious events during the weekend.

Toliman

Between April 10 and 15, Tolimán will carry out various religious activities, from Palm Sunday to a series of representations that will take place during the week, in the atrium of the temple of San Pedro, including a Via Crusis that will end at the Cerro del Calvario.
