Tourism sector signs the Tourism for Children commitment

As part of the state strategy to guarantee safe and violence-free tourist environments, on May 13 the signing of the commitment "Tourism for Children" was carried out, in an act headed by the head of the State Secretariat of Tourism (SECTUR), Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, in which authorities, tourism entrepreneurs, municipalities and associations in the sector.

"This strategy is not only an institutional action, but a shared conviction: to protect children and eradicate all forms of abuse, trafficking or exploitation in the tourism sector," said the official.

During the event, it was reported that, with this signing, the tourism sector of the entity assumes commitments detailed in the National Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children and Adolescents in the travel and tourism sector, a tool that promotes good practices, prevention and prompt attention to possible crimes in hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, food and beverage establishments, and other key players in the sector.

The state official added that the Ministry of Tourism has strengthened preventive actions through permanent training, workshops, awareness campaigns and the promotion of action protocols to prevent risk situations.

Adriana Vega stressed that this signing of commitments is in addition to the legislative efforts promoted by the governor, Mauricio Kuri González, who recently presented a bill to prevent human trafficking and child exploitation in tourist establishments. He also recognized the work of the federal deputy, Tania Palacios Kuri, who has taken this cause to the national level.

"Tourism in Querétaro is not only an economic industry, it is a space of coexistence, trust and values. And in that space, girls and boys must be protected at all times," she said.

With this initiative, Querétaro is at the national forefront in the construction of ethical, co-responsible tourism committed to children.
