State and municipal authorities presented this Thursday morning, the 42nd edition of the Tequisquiapan National Cheese and Wine Fair 2022, which returns after 2 years of suspension derived from the Covid-19 health contingency, and which will be held on the weekends of May 20 to June 5, in La Pila Park, located in the Historic Center of this Magical Town of Querétaro.
In her speech, the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Querétaro, said that currently the Wine Region of Querétaro has become the second most important tourist product for the entity and represents the most visited wine area in the country, attracting 1 million visitors a year. He added that recently, the international guide Travel Lemming called this region "the new Napa Valley." In addition, he reported, Querétaro has the first Wine Cluster in the country, in an effort to promote the wine industry and make concrete efforts between the government, businessmen and academia.
"Immersed in this great context, the National Cheese and Wine Fair of our Magical Town of Tequisquiapan, represents without a doubt, one of the most important events not only in this region, but in the entire state; since it is the perfect preamble for the subsequent start of the harvest season in Querétaro.I am sure that the great diversity of activities, tastings and the promotion of a culture for the tasting of table wine and gastronomy; it will arouse the interest of tourists from all over the country, who will gather in the Pila Park in Tequisquiapan, to enjoy an event where Mexican wineries, cheese factories, restaurants, great artistic presentations and above all, enjoy the warmth that the people of Querétaro have," said Moran Ocampo.
The municipal president of Tequisquiapan, Antonio Mejía Lira, reported that this fair is an invitation to appreciate, refine and sensitively enjoy national and international wine labels, as well as the possibility for visitors to learn basic techniques for the choice and tasting of wine and cheese, through tastings and pairings, combined with art and music; in addition to 60 exhibition stands of cheese, wine and art.
The guest country for the National Cheese and Wine Fair is Spain, so there will be a sample of wines, gastronomy and artistic expressions of the Iberian country. There will also be cheese exhibitions, in the voice of the Querétaro producers themselves, wine tastings, and catwalk-tastings for the benefit of various civil associations, every weekend, by renowned designers such as Pineda Covalín and Sindashi pre-Hispanic art in fashion. In the same way, art auctions; activities for children and the participation of renowned flamenco musicians and singers.
Among the main artistic presentations, the stellar presentation of Ana Torroja was announced during the inauguration and there will be a performance by the group Matisse, Kápsula, Gabriel C, Koktel, Karina Catalán, DJ Ricardo Muñoz, Show El Divo, among other bands and artists.
Additionally, they will have complementary presentations on 3 different stages and a main stage, such as circus shows, aerial dance, juggling shows, contortion, and concerts of genres such as pop, rock, jazz, folk, soul and covers; among other activities.
Each weekend, they reported, will have a special theme inspired by the colors of wine: The first weekend will be the "White Celebration", which seeks to celebrate the return of the Fair. The second weekend will be the "Life in Rosé", to celebrate the special moments that life offers; and on the third weekend, "Amor y Tinto" will be held, to celebrate love and harmony.
The 2022 edition of this fair is expected to attract more than 60 thousand visitors and generate an economic spill of 120 million pesos. The cost of access will be 250 pesos.
