The head of the Ministry of Tourism of the state of Querétaro (SECTUR), Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, held a working meeting with representatives of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Council of the Meetings Industry (COMIR), headed by its president, Michel Wohlmuth; with the intention of reinforcing the image of the entity as an ideal destination for the development of business tourism.
During the meeting, Adriana Vega highlighted the importance of the meetings industry in the state economy, because according to the Study of the Economic Relevance of the Meetings Industry in Querétaro 2024, more than 11,500 meetings of all kinds were held in the state, which brought together more than one million visitors and generated an economic spill of more than 16,400 million pesos.
"Querétaro is consolidated as a competitive destination for the meetings industry. The designation of our entity as the headquarters of the CNIR 2026 is the result of joint work between the government, businessmen and organizations of the sector. Today we reaffirm our commitment to continue taking Querétaro to the next level," he said.
The state official stressed that Querétaro has competitive advantages that strengthen this segment, such as its strategic location in the center of the country, air and land connectivity, more than 20 thousand hotel rooms, specialized venues such as the Querétaro Congress Center (QCC) and the Metropolitan Theater, in addition to the security and diversity of tourist attractions.
He also reported that Querétaro will host the National Congress of the Meetings Industry (CNIR) 2026, to be held from September 9 to 12 at the QCC, where the participation of leaders and representatives of this sector throughout the country has been confirmed.
He also stressed that the meetings industry has a transversal impact, also benefiting sectors such as restaurants, vineyards and tourism service providers, which have increased their participation in the value chain.
