The governor, Mauricio Kuri González, led the opening ceremony of the Querétaro Week at the Casa de México Foundation in Spain (located in the city of Madrid), an event that he said aims to strengthen the links of cooperation, tourism and cultural promotion between the state and the Spanish market.
"Querétaro and Spain are closer than ever. With the new direct flight that will begin operating in October, we open a door to new opportunities in tourism, investment and culture," he said.
The head of the state Executive Branch highlighted Querétaro to Spanish businessmen, the media and executives of the Ávoris Group, as an ideal destination for investment, thanks to its remarkable security climate, its legal certainty and its industrial and commercial development.
During her message, the Secretary of Tourism of the state, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, highlighted the importance of this event, which she said, allows Querétaro to position itself internationally.
"We are here to show the best of Querétaro and generate alliances that strengthen our presence in the European market. This effort is part of an international projection strategy that includes connectivity, promotion and strengthening of the local productive sector," he said.
The activities will take place from May 26 to June 1, at the headquarters of the Foundation located at Calle Alberto Aguilera, 20, in Madrid. The program also includes working meetings with tour operators, leaders in the tourism sector and specialized media.
In addition, the Querétaro Week at the Casa de México in Spain includes more than 30 activities, among which are: an exhibition of more than 50 pieces of crafts and popular art, gastronomic and craft workshops, guided tours, activities for children, film screenings.
On his occasion, the Ambassador of Mexico in Spain, Quirino Ordaz Copel, recognized in Querétaro an entity that always has "high sights", a situation that he said, allows it to have international recognition for its economic development; in addition, it is a consolidated destination to receive international tourists, thanks to its geographical location, its modern infrastructure and its wide variety of tourist resources.
Similarly, the honorary president of the Royal Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy, Rafael Anson Oliart, highlighted Querétaro for its appointment as the Ibero-American Capital of Gastronomy of Encounter during the years 2025 and 2026, so this exhibition reinforces the promotion of Querétaro cuisine internationally and consolidates it as a pillar of tourist attraction.
The activities are organized in collaboration with the Casa de México Foundation in Spain, the Queretana House of Handicrafts, the Association of Queretaro Cooks and other institutions. More than 4,500 people are expected to visit throughout the week.
