Within the framework of the Tianguis Turístico México 2025, the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, announced the start of operations of the direct flight that connects the entity with the city of Madrid, Spain, operated by the airline Iberojet, which focuses on the vacation tourism segment and stands out for offering a comprehensive and personalized travel experience.

From the headquarters of the Tianguis Turístico in Baja California, where the agreement that formalizes the announcement was signed, Mauricio Kuri said he was pleased that, among so many destinations, the airline's directors have chosen Querétaro for the operations of a new direct flight. He also trusted that in the short term there will be more periodicity and other flights to the European continent.

"It connects Querétaro a lot in business issues, in terms of history, culture, tourism, ecological tourism, etc. So we are really happy because thanks to the work that the Ministry of Tourism is doing here, Querétaro is going to the next level in terms of connectivity, a safe state, with history, with business and with the best of Mexico that is in Querétaro, which is its people," he emphasized.

The state governor explained that this flight responds to a growing demand for tourist and business connections between Europe and the El Bajío area, and added that it is expected to be in October, when it will begin operations with two weekly frequencies, projected for Thursday and Sunday.

Kuri González took the opportunity to thank the support of the Federal Ministry of Tourism in the state's projects; while to the directors of Iberojet he expressed his accompaniment and collaboration as commercial partners.

The Governor recalled that the entity is home to 196 Spanish companies and, within a radius of 200 kilometers, about 119 thousand passengers travel to Spain, which represents 11 percent of the total number of Mexican passengers who visit that European country.

When taking the floor, the Secretary of Tourism at the federal level, Josefina Rodríguez, stressed that the announcement changes history, because from the leadership of Mauricio Kuri a region of El Bajío is connected with Europe; and in this way, the tourist routes that Querétaro has are made known to the world, such as wine and romance.

"What is this flight going to allow us? Well, to be able to continue to make our wealth known, but also our communities, our artisans will be able to exhibit all the wonders they do in another country. So, congratulations, Querétaro. What is coming for Querétaro is very important. The train is coming, the project that also makes tourism permanent," he stressed.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, said that the alliance with the Spanish airline reaffirms the vision of the state government headed by Mauricio Kuri, to strengthen international connectivity, attract more tourists and position Querétaro as one of the most attractive colonial destinations in Mexico.

In addition, he pointed out that it represents the opportunity to increase the flow of international visitors, strengthen the promotion of the state in key markets and boost the local economy.

It should be noted that Iberojet is a Spanish commercial and charter airline based in Palma de Mallorca, owned by the Barceló group through its travel division, Ávoris. The company was founded in 2013 and operates scheduled and charter flights in Spain, Europe, America and Africa.

Javier Castillo, director of Tour Operation at Avoris, highlighted Querétaro's capacity to receive and serve international tourism, through its modern airport infrastructure and services available at the Querétaro International Airport.
