The heads of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) and the Energy Agency of the State of Querétaro, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado and Mauricio Reyes Caracheo, respectively, signed a Collaboration Agreement to promote energy efficiency in companies in the tourism sector, through actions that allow the responsible use of resources and the adoption of clean technologies.
During her speech, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, highlighted this agreement as a firm commitment of the entity to the care of the environment and sustainability, and added that it contemplates access, by entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, to specialized technical advice, energy diagnostics, linkage with support programs and financing options, which will improve the competitiveness of tourist establishments. while reducing its environmental footprint.
"Today we take another step towards a responsible, competitive tourism model aligned with the challenges of our time. This agreement represents a commitment to tourism that takes care of the environment and prepares seriously for the future," he said.
He also thanked the director of the Energy Agency for his support and vision to add tourism to the state energy strategy and endorsed the commitment of the State Government, to consolidate itself as a sustainable tourist destination, with actions such as this, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, particularly in terms of affordable and clean energy, as well as climate action.
With this agreement, Querétaro is positioned as one of the first entities in the country to establish a formal collaboration between the energy and tourism sectors, with a view to building a more balanced, competitive and environmentally committed development model.
