Querétaro celebrated another anniversary of the beginning of Mexico's Independence. The streets of the city were once again filled with festivities, colors, flavors and traditions; after two years of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the patriotic jubilation returned.
Hundreds of Querétaro residents and tourists enjoyed a week of celebrations in the main streets of the Historic Center of Querétaro, in the heart of the Creative Metropolis. The reason was the 212th Anniversary of the Cry of Independence; As in previous years, color and flavors were once again the protagonists, children and adults crowded squares and walkways to experience a very special verbena on September 15.
People with costumes of national heroes, painted faces, flags and balloons gave color to the most representative avenues, as well as the restaurants of the first square of the city dressed in green, white and red to open their doors and offer very Mexican dinners.
From the early hours of September 15, those attending the national festivities filled the streets of Corregidora, Andador 5 de Mayo, Andador Libertad, Andador 16 de Septiembre, Jardín Zenea, Plaza de Armas and the Jardín de la Corregidora, in the latter place they enjoyed musical shows.
The restaurants of Plaza de Armas, such as Restaurante 1810 and El Mesón de Chucho el Roto gave life to this historic venue, with color, music and dinners that crowded their tables.
In the streets surrounding the Zenea Garden, various food stalls were located, the most traditional of Mexican and Querétaro gastronomy. Buñuelos, turkeys, jarritos, enchiladas, tacos and various popular dishes served as a preview for all those who waited for the cry of Governor Mauricio Kuri on the balcony of the Government Palace.
The light show and fireworks lit up the Querétaro sky after 11:00 p.m., those present shouted ¡Viva México! and ¡Viva Querétaro! in the middle of a night of music, party, food and a lot of patriotic color.
