The Secretary of Tourism of the state (SECTUR) through the Coordinator of Special Projects, Erika Contreras Moreno, together with the organizers, announced the realization of the Sport Fishing Tournament "Fishing for a dignified life", which will take place in the Zimapán dam, municipality of Cadereyta de Montes, on May 23, 24 and 25. where the participation of more than 250 teams of fishermen from various parts of the country is expected.
Erika Contreras said that, thanks to the wide diversity of tourist attractions that the entity has, it is possible for sporting events of this nature to arrive, which attract visitors from different parts of Mexico, and generate an important economic spillover for the region, in addition to benefiting people in vulnerable situations.
In turn, the organizer of the tournament, Rafael Aguilar de la Rosa, reported that the main objective is to raise funds to grant scholarships for medical treatment and medical financing for the care of approximately 110 people with disabilities in the states of Querétaro and San Luis Potosí; with the granting of orthoses and prostheses, glasses, genetic studies, surgeries and hospitalization expenses, therapy, dental care, among other supports.
He reported that registrations are made directly at the Zimapán dam, on May 23, in amateur and professional categories, and it is expected that there will be more than 250 national and international fishermen, who will compete for a purse of more than 200 thousand pesos in prizes, a tourist economic spill estimated at approximately two million pesos during that weekend.
