Tequisquiapan is a proud land of quality cheeses and is undoubtedly home to the best artisanal producers and this was demonstrated on October 14 and 15 with the success of the Viva el Queso Festival that took place at Cava Bocanegra.
This municipality is committed to exposing to the world the best of the Art, Cheese and Wine Route and always creates ideal opportunities to live to the fullest the enjoyment that the mixture of good wines, great cheeses and art that inspires creates in visitors to the semi-desert area of Querétaro.
The more than a thousand attendees who had the opportunity to enjoy this gastronomic festival got to know up close, tasted and talked with more than 20 cheese producers from Querétaro, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla and Jalisco about the benefits of their products.
In a family atmosphere with activities for children and moments of live music, the guests experienced a weekend full of cow's, sheep's, goat's cheeses, fresh and ripe, spreadable or smoked, accompanied by cold meats, chocolates, desserts, dressings, cajeta, beer, artisan bread, wines and soft drinks from the region. All with the scenery and amenities provided by the best host: Cava Bocanegra.
In addition, Viva el Queso had its Artisanal Cheese Contest of the Region in which 24 regional, national and international juries rated flavor, aroma, texture and exterior and interior appearance to find the winners of the categories of cow, goat, sheep, fresh, ripe, cured and semi-cured cheese among the 68 registered participants.
This festival, ideal for lovers of cheeses and gourmet products, was also full of art with the participation of José Ángel Álvarez, an urban artist from Querétaro who captivated those present with the intervention alluding to the region of cheeses and wines painted live with spray paint throughout the event in a giant cheese format.
