Living history
The streets of Querétaro tell stories, the corners of the old city whisper in every block, every square, every corner. The old mansions keep sounds from hundreds of years ago, and some of them are erected to bear witness to a past time, to serve as faithful witnesses of a distant time when Querétaro was a bastion of New Spain.
The Hotel La Casa de la Marquésa, on the iconic Madero street, is one of the buildings that today serves to travel back in time and understand what New Spanish Querétaro was like.
The house belonged to Doña Paula Guerrero y Dávila, wife of the Marquis of Villa del Villar del Águila, the man who built the Aqueduct of Querétaro.
Thirteen period suites
The house dates back to 1756, has thirteen suites that were recreated to be of the time and for guests to feel what it is like to wake up in another time.
At nine o'clock in the morning at La Casa de la Marquesa, an old piano begins to sound that accompanies the natural lighting of the hour to flood the entire venue.
At all times the objective is to transport visitors to those years in which corregidores, viceroys, soldiers, mestizos, criollos, and more than one conspirator walked through the streets of Querétaro.
Remodeling
The house was remodeled 27 years ago, this allowed to rescue more faithfully all the amenities that the site had in its splendor.
The frescoes and paintings are the originals, an artistic rescue and restoration work was carried out to be able to exhibit the works throughout the house.
At present the restaurant service is not active, however it is expected that it will be restored for foreign guests and visitors.
The Hotel La Casa de la Marquesa has the possibility of being rented for all kinds of events, mainly those related to romance tourism.
