With 40 years of tradition in the restaurant world, José Antonio González, better known as “Señor González" or "Josecho”, has become a Querétaro icon in the gastronomic world. The vocation he has had since he was young, the inspiration to create unique dishes, the teachings he received from his mother, the hard work and long hours that the kitchen requires have resulted in the creation of one of the most successful restaurant groups in Querétaro: Mesón de Chucho el Roto, La Casa Verde, La Hoja and, of course, the jewel in the crown: Josecho, considered one of the top 100 restaurants in the country.
A restaurant group that is distinguished by the quality of its dishes, for having received and served three generations of customers, and also for using products and offering wines and beers from the region. A Querétaro legend that shows gratitude to the city and that, in the words of Mr. González, becomes a commitment to give Querétaro "the best gastronomic image possible."
But Josecho is not only characterized by his important presence in the business world or by his brilliant sense of humor; he is also distinguished by being a present father and an example for his daughter Rocío, who from a very young age took the reins of the family business and is currently at the head of La Hoja.
Mr. González recalls the story that goes back to his first job as a waiter, pharmacy assistant, receptionist, head waiter until he opened his first restaurant on the highway and later opened “El Pepe's” where he was able to experiment with the cuisine and dishes. A family that has its beginnings in Culiacán and found its place in Querétaro. A family united by their love of food, by their vocation to serve and make their customers happy, by innovating and renewing themselves; a family that remains at the forefront, despite the gastronomic offer that the globalized Querétaro of today offers.
In addition, for Rocío, the secret of success always is and always will be vocation. “We love that the customer leaves happy (...) to be a restaurateur you have to have a vocation and that is part of the legacy that my dad has left me,” which he has also instilled in his daughter and in the more than 300 people who work in the group, values such as discipline, service, respect and above all love for the family, which makes Don Josecho a great example to follow.
“We are a Querétaro company, we are betting everything on Querétaro and we want to be an icon of the city (...) This has been the basis for staying in the taste of tourists and locals who will always prefer to live the experience and exclusivity of Josecho.”
