The seventh edition of the Hay Festival Querétaro featured the Hay Cena, an event to show the best of Querétaro gastronomy to the world.
As part of the celebration of the Hay Festival 2022, the traditional gala dinner of this event was held. Representatives of the festival, media, state and municipal authorities of Querétaro lived the experience of the Hay Cena.
The Hacienda Atongo served as a stage to transmit to local and foreign visitors the beauty of Querétaro, some of its ancestral traditions and a taste of its food.
What does Querétaro taste like?
Those responsible for exhibiting the best of Querétaro cuisine at this event were the chefs who are members of the Queretaro Gastronomy Collective. A team made up of cooking masters from various organizations, who planned a menu to offer convent cuisine and dishes from the region.
The menu consisted of Yellow Sweet Potato Cream, Convent Chile, Chicken in Beet Mole, Rabbit Barbecue with Baked Sweet Potato and Xoconostle for dessert with marzipan yemitas and ice cream.
The dinner featured a pairing of some of the most traditional vineyards in Querétaro such as Puerta del Lobo, De Cote, Vinos de El Marqués and Freixenet.
Some of the personalities who attended this gala event were Jhon Benjamin, ambassador of the United Kingdom in Mexico; Cristina Fuentes, director of the Hay Festival; Jarvis Coker, member of the British band Pulp; Tawakkol Karman, Nobel Peace Prize 2011, among others.
Those present enjoyed musical shows and some traditional dances while tasting their dinner.
