Governor presides over the launch of the Querétaro Wine Cluster

During the launch of the Querétaro Wine Cluster, the governor, Mauricio Kuri González, stated that, due to the diversification of tourist experiences in the state, haute cuisine has evolved, to the point where the state's wine sector is now a world reference, which has allowed the consolidation of the first cluster of this industry in the country.

"When you hear that Querétaro is the main destination for people who come to visit the vineyards, a million people a year as I understand it, and when you see the potential that you have to be able to make this continue to be a very sustainable business (...), my instruction to Mariela, Mariano, to all those in the cluster, is to help you in any way you can to make this synergy with the clusters in Catalonia, in South America, etc., so that they can do very, very well," he said.

He stressed that the strengthening of the wine industry, through its more than 600 hectares of vineyards and 300 wine labels, has detonated tourism in the region, constituting a source of income for thousands of Querétaro families; for this reason, he said, they work together with municipalities, businessmen and artisans to support their growth; he cited as an example "the Art, Cheese and Wine Route" which is made up of more than 250 hotels and more than five thousand rooms in 11 municipalities.

Virtually, the president of the International Organization of Vine and Wine, Pau Roca Blasco, congratulated the impetus and work to promote new trends and take tourism to the next level in which innovation, sustainable transformation and digital environment will be fundamental.

At the time, the president of the World Wine Tourism Organization, José Antonio Vidal, said that Querétaro is special because its associations get along well, solidly cementing the foundations that govern coordinated and avant-garde success.

While the Secretary of Tourism, Mariela Morán Ocampo, said that Querétaro wine is a hallmark of quality and competitiveness, an engine of economic mobility, for which the state raises its bet and evolves to an industrial model.

Likewise, the Secretary of Sustainable Development, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, stressed that one of the most outstanding qualities in Querétaro is teamwork, as well as the union of the different sectors, which leads to the exchange of experiences, practices and perspectives to make the industry grow from the industry itself.

Finally, the president of the Querétaro Wine Cluster, Mariano Velten Funcia, thanked the state government and its different agencies for their support, who he considered join efforts to give the necessary boost to the sector until each of the projects materializes.

The event was attended by the Chief of Staff, Rogelio Vega Vázquez Mellado; the Secretary of Culture, Marcela Herbert Pesquera; the Secretary of Agricultural Development, Rosendo Anaya Aguilar; the municipal president of Querétaro, Luis Nava; among other personalities.
