Government of Querétaro seeks strategic alliances with international organizations to boost tourism

Prior to the start of the First "International Tourism Think Tank" Forum, representatives of international tourism and economic organizations met with members of the state cabinet, as well as with authorities from various instances and organizations.

The Secretary of Tourism, Mariela Morán Ocampo, said that Querétaro has always stood out for being a state that is committed to cooperation, teamwork, adaptation, order and discipline, as a platform for development.

"I am sure that the professional career and the work they carry out on a daily basis, will allow us to glimpse a global panorama of tourism in the world, with its challenges and opportunities, with its threats and also with its trends: A more meaningful, more endearing and more sustainable tourism, as dictated by the 2030 agenda of the United Nations," she stressed.

Morán Ocampo said that in Querétaro we want to build bridges of dialogue and cooperation that allow us to multiply efforts, promote talent and find new paths that allow the tourism sector to advance to the next level.

With this approach, the different instances of the state government seek to establish alliances and advice with these international organizations, to develop various actions or portfolios, such as protecting the cultural and historical heritage of Querétaro, and valuing it through the promotion of the creative and information technology industries.

Similarly, it will seek to have advice for the tourism development of the wine region, training and professionalization schemes for tourism service providers, the establishment of possible new air routes, advice for the alignment of public policies to the UN's 2030 agenda, commercial exchange of digital and editorial platforms for the tourism promotion of the state, as well as financing opportunities for projects in the tourism sector.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Finance of the state, Gustavo Arturo Leal Maya; the Secretary of Culture of the state, Marcela Herbert Pesquera; the state Secretary of Education, Martha Elena Soto Obregón; Ricardo Torres Hernández, undersecretary of the environment of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development of the state; Tania Palacios Kuri, Secretary of Sustainable Development of the municipality of Querétaro; Alejandra Iturbe Rosas, Secretary of Tourism of the municipality of Querétaro; Manuel Aguado Romero, director of Planning and Tourism Development of the state; among other officials and representatives of state agencies.

While the delegation of international personalities was made up of Oscar Rueda García, director of the Office of the Executive Presidency of the Development Bank of Latin America-CAF; Maximiliano Mauvecín, secretary general of the South American Federation of Tourism (FEDESUD); Juan Francisco Maqueda, founder and CEO of the Integrated Marketing Agency LATAM One Full Agency.

As well as José Carlos Santiago, president and founder of the Excelencias Editorial Group and Vice President of the Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy; José Antonio Vidal, president of the World Wine Tourism Organization; Mohamed Taleb Omar, diplomatic advisor to the United Nations and responsible for tourism and the 2030 agenda; Antonio Santos del Valle, vice president of the Board of Affiliate Members of the World Tourism Organization and José Rolando Méndez, executive director of the Rímac Board of Trustees and Cite Creative Industries of Peru.
