The head of the State Secretariat of Tourism, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, announced that the state of Querétaro will host the WTA 125 Tennis Tournament, one of the most important international events on the professional women's circuit, which will be held from October 20 to 26, 2025, at the Club Campestre; and where about 15 thousand visitors and around 100 million pesos are expected as economic spillover.
The Secretary of Tourism reported that, for a week, more than 60 elite players will meet in the entity, consolidating Querétaro as a competitive destination with the capacity to host world-class sporting events.
"For Querétaro, sport is an ally of tourism. Hosting WTA 125 not only boosts our economy and projects us internationally, but also inspires the youth of Querétaro to dream big. This tournament is an opportunity to show the world the greatness of our state," he said.
He added that the realization of this tournament represents a strategic opportunity to promote sports tourism, by attracting national and international visitors and projecting Querétaro to a global audience and estimated a positive impact on the local economy, with benefits for hotels, restaurants, shops and service providers.
The state of Querétaro, he said, has first-class infrastructure, security and hospitality to receive athletes, technical teams, fans and specialized media, which reinforces its position as a reliable venue for large-scale events.
During the official presentation of this elite tournament in the professional world of tennis, it was highlighted that this event will also be an incentive for new generations, by promoting the practice of tennis and encouraging interest in sport as an engine of well-being and social development.
Present at the presentation of the tournament were Gustavo Santoscoy Arriaga, president of GS Sports Management; Rodrigo Urquiza, president of the Club Campestre de Querétaro; Juan Manuel Baez Bolaños, Secretary of Sports of the municipality of Querétaro and Leonardo Lavalle, former professional tennis player.
