That time of the year has arrived that is not lived the same without lights, carols, smiles, family and friends and around the latter, Querétaro has one of the most emblematic traditions of the December holidays: the lighting of the friendship tree.
At 7:00 pm municipal and state authorities headed by Governor Mauricio Kuri González, the municipal president of Querétaro Luis Bernardo Nava Guerrero, Jaime García Alcocer, president of the Board of Trustees of the Fiestas de Querétaro and Claudia I, Queen of Christmas 2022, the ceremony was held between music by Tato and Ely Dorantes, carols by the Capella Queretana ensemble and in front of hundreds of tourists and locals who gathered in the Corregidora Garden to live such an emotional moment.
This Christmas, the monument to the Corregidora will also be surrounded by the Monumental Nativity Scene of Querétaro, which changed location this year in order to remember its beginnings and celebrate the 45th anniversary of the naming of the Tree of Friendship.
So, on your walk through the Historic Center, this square and its planters deserve a pause to admire the more than 170 pieces that make up this representation of the classic portal of Bethlehem. To decorate the tree this year, thinking about the protection of its branches, a metal structure was built in which you can admire its lights.
From December 5 until January 2023 you can enjoy one of the most longed for and colorful traditions. This tree, with 110 years of life, has witnessed historic moments for the city and has become an emblem of fraternity, cordiality, affection and union for the people of Querétaro and for those who visit this city.
