Querétaro begins its Christmas festivities in La Cañada
The Christmas celebrations are inaugurated every year in La Cañada, municipality of El Marqués, with the traditional Fiesta de El Gallo in honor of the Virgen de la Concepción de Hércules on December 8, and in La Cañada to the Virgen de Guadalupe on December 12. The event is considered one of the largest festivals in celebration of the patron saints and in which there is always band music, decorations, crafts, roosters, shells, costumes and a splendid carnival.
The celebration tends to have a high level of attendance; However, given the health contingency, the celebration was limited only to residents of the area. The December Rooster in La Cañada, is based in the Plaza de San Pedro, where the night message is heard. The villagers bring their roosters with them, most of them made with china paper, cardboard, wire, wood and light materials.
Light to feed the faith
Tradition dictates that if the Gallo is for the Virgen de Guadalupe, its interior is illuminated with a candle to be a lamppost that illuminates the night route and represents the stars of the Virgin's mantle.
At the end of the message, the parish priest summons all the people to form with their rooster to bless them and then make them dance.
