On the way to Tequisquiapan

The beautiful Magical Town of Tequisquiapan is located a few kilometers from the city of Querétaro, where you can enjoy its colorful streets, its tourist activities and the best atmosphere to attend with family, friends or as a couple.

On your way to this incredible place, we recommend you make a first stop in the municipality of Colón to enjoy a delicious breakfast at El Magueyal, where a delicious traditional meal (such as gorditas, quesadillas and more) awaits you, accompanied by the drink of the gods, Pulque.

After this great breakfast, we also invite you to visit Cava Bocanegra, where you can discover a little more about the process of making its wide variety of cheeses and have the pleasure of tasting it, where you can accompany your tasting with its wines and craft beers.

Fall in love with Tequis

For your stay during these two days in Tequisquiapan, we recommend three hotels in which they are characterized by having excellent service and a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy your stay, which are: Casa Martha, Hotel Río Tequisquiapan and Hotel Relox.

After leaving your bags and relaxing a little, it is time to explore this town and we will start with a tour of the Callejón del Piojo, which was recently remodeled, this path takes you to one of the best known parks in the area, La Pila, which is home to the National Cheese and Wine Fair. There you will explore its surroundings for a while and then walk to the Mexico I Love Museum, where all you will see here is the history of Mexico, expressed in miniature pieces.

After a long day walking, at lunchtime we recommend you try the taste of Origens, a Mediterranean food restaurant, with high quality dishes, which pay tribute to Tequisquiapan and its origin.

Its center and nightlife

After a delicious meal, we headed to the Geographic Center of the Mexican Republic, Yes! Tequisquiapan was baptized as the center thanks to Venustiano Carranza who frequented this small town and ordered this monument to be made. From there, we return to the Miguel Hidalgo Main Square, where we will observe the colorful temple of Santa María Asunción and get to know the stalls around it.

To end our first day, the best place for the evening is La Luna Terraza, as you will try a wide variety of delicious cocktails, as well as a great independent kitchen with local ingredients that will keep you coming back again for more. Here you will find the perfect setting for your evening.

Between flight and tradition

For the second day in Tequisquiapan, a very cool activity is coming, yes, you have to be very early to enjoy the sunrise from the heights, because you will make a balloon flight. The journey will begin at dawn, in which you will observe the moment when they inflate the balloon and ascend to be able to start this trip, which is undoubtedly a must on your visit.

At the end of this activity, the recommendation for breakfast is in one of the most typical restaurants of this beautiful Magical Town, La Charamusca, since in addition to trying its exquisite menu, you should also not leave without knowing its pastries, they are a delight!

One of the most famous wineries in this place is Vinícola San Patricio, so we recommend you go and enjoy a tour of its facilities and learn about the process of creating its wines from its Santiago Apóstol label and take one as a souvenir.

Handicrafts and local gastronomy

Unexpected places in Querétaro that surprise you and this is one. On your visit to our State you will visit the Opal Mines "El Redentor", in which you can explore a little about this work, as well as the way in which they extract this mineral from the earth and in the same way, they will take you to know the workshops where they already have some finished products.

Finally, we also invite you to enjoy and do your shopping in the destination, at the local Handicrafts Market , where you can see that there are many products woven with wicker and that are characteristic of the area, as well as wooden, ceramic and obviously, opal and quartz items.

After a long day and before leaving for our next destination, it was time for lunch and a place that you should not miss is El Maravillas, a seafood restaurant that seeks the fusion of contemporary cuisine and recipes with family seasoning accompanied by ingredients from the region.

From here to San Juan

After a long day, it's time to rest, so our next destination is San Juan Del Río, where we recommend you arrive from Tequisquiapan and relax in the following: Hotel Misión San Gil or Hacienda La Venta, which are characterized by being the most traditional when you visit the destination.

The next morning, on your last day of tour, it is time to know a little about the tourist offer that San Juan has for you. We start the day with a delicious breakfast at Helena Café & Bistro, a small corner of this municipality that in addition to making you fall in love with its location and design, will also do so with its rich gastronomic options.

At the end of breakfast, we will now move to the Independence Garden, where you can see that in its center there is a column, which was built in honor of Empress Carlota, as well as in the background, there is the San Juan Bautista Parish and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe that contrast with the Historic Center.

To make your tour more fun, an option you can do with family, friends or your partner, is to visit the QZar Blackberry Orchard. Obviously there are seasons to see the countryside full of this delicious fruit, as they are from May to July and from September to November, so you can keep an eye out.

If you don't go on those dates, we have an alternative, because it is to visit the Nativity Museum and believe it or not, there is a space dedicated to publicizing the types of nativity scenes that exist in Mexico and around the world that María del Pilar Barona de Beltrán collected. How is it going?

To end this great three-day tour through two of our beautiful municipalities in Querétaro, we definitely recommend you end the day at Cava 57, eating at its restaurant called Terruño 57, where in addition to tasting its delicious wines, you also fall in love with its gastronomy.
