"To be a true champion... only in San Joaquín," dictates the slogan of the festival with the most huapanguera tradition in the country, which this time had more than 500 participating couples in a magical town that was filled with papel picado and artists after the forced two-year break.

From the entrance to San Joaquín the warning was announced: We are in the Cathedral of Huapango, few assertions do more justice than that, and it is that couples from all over the country arrived, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo and, of course, Querétaro, to give a total of more than a thousand participants.

The corridors of people were not long in coming, the streets of the Magical Town of San Joaquín were lit up with colors, but also with flavors, gorditas, garnachas, tacos, gringas, corn, stews of all kinds, enchiladas with cecina. The smell, the food, the dance, the dresses, all that captivated the visitors, who between applause, guided the soundtrack of the festival.

The music was provided by Trio Juglar, Los Hidalguenses, Marcos Hernández y sus Camperos, Pasión Huasteca and Reales de Colima.

In 1982 the National Institute of Fine Arts awarded San Joaquín the title of 'Cathedral of Huapango', and 10 years later cataloged it as one of the three most important events of its kind nationwide. For this edition, the festival received more than 700 couples who competed in the categories small huapangueros (3 to 7 years old), children (8 to 12 years old), youth (13 to 17 years old), adults (over 18 years old) and large huapangueros (over 50 years old).

It is worth highlighting the most complex category, the Champion of champions, which saw Xochitl Gamboa Campos and Manuel Isaías Ángel Mariano for their Tamaulipeco Style as winners of the first place; in second place to Vanessa Lizeth Báez Ortigoza and Emmanuel Flores Sánchez who danced in the Veracruz style; and finally in third place to Gloria Nayeli Olguín Márquez and Daniel Olguín Márquez in their execution of the Potosí style.

In three days of the festival, the early morning of Sunday, April 10, was set to live music by Nadia, a former member of La Academia. The singer performed songs from Mexican popular music, such as Acá entre nos and El viajero, songs that made the stands sing, while outside the auditorium the gathering and festivities continued.

Thus, three nights of music, dance and food were lived, with the unbeatable venue of the magical town of San Joaquín, among the imposing Sierra Querétaro, unique setting of the best of the Mexican huapango, where families, musicians, dancers and attendees lived unforgettable nights.
