To define the Hay Festival, the words of Cristina Cienfunetes, director of the Hay Festival for Latin America, could be used: 'It is an event to discuss the past, understand the present and to imagine the future'.
The seventh edition of this festival of culture, arts and science came to an end in Querétaro. A total of 27 thousand people enjoyed four days in which characters from different fields, with different approaches and from different latitudes, offered public debates to create bridges and try to imagine the world.
Querétaro contributed its gastronomy, its colonial streets, the warmth of its people and once again left a good taste in the mouths of all those who attended the City Theater, the Guerrero Garden, the City Museum, in addition to the forums in Tequisquiapan, Ezequiel Montes and Corregidora.
Moments to frame
Some of the conversations left unique moments and details, such as the minutes of applause that the writer and journalist Rosa Montero received on the main stage of the Teatro de la Ciudad.
For the little ones, activities were carried out in the first square of the Historic Center, CaminaLee, the Wall of Wishes of Rebel Girls and Boys or the presentation of Juan Gedovius served to involve them in the more than 90 activities.
The presence of Tawakol Karman, Nobel Peace Prize 2011, and Wole Soyinka, Nobel Prize in Literature 1986, marked this seventh edition of the Hay Festival, two events in which universal ideas and concepts were shared.
To conclude Hay Querétaro 2022, a communal reading was held in the Guerrero Garden. The intention was to pay tribute to the writer Almudena Grandes, who died in November 2021, a contemporary female symbol of Hispanic letters.
