The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) of Querétaro and the National Sports Commission (Conade) announced the First Equestrian Sports Festival, which will take place in the state, from May 19 to 29, with the participation of 1,500 horses, in 10 different disciplines, which makes it an unprecedented event at the national level.
At a press conference, the coordinator of Liaison and Monitoring of the Sectur, Yara Beltrán Gómez, on behalf of the head of the secretariat, Mariela Morán Ocampo, explained that with innovative events, such as the Equestrian Sports Festival, sports tourism is promoted and Querétaro is placed as a national and international reference.
"For the State Government, the promotion and dissemination of sports tourism is of the greatest relevance for everything it means: health, culture, tradition; in addition to boosting the economy and, in our case, helping to take Querétaro to the next level," said the official.
At the time, the Deputy Director of Sports of Conade, Adolfo Fierro Rodríguez, applauded the sum of wills for the realization of the festival, since the Mexican federations of Polo, Charrería, Rodeo and Salto participate in its organization and development.
Admission to the various shows and competitions of the festival will be free at the five venues of the event: Club Hípico Montecarlo, Viñedos del Polo El Marqués, Rancho San José, Lienzo Charro El Pitayo and Club El Terregal.
During the weekends of May 19 to 22 and 26 to 26, attendees will appreciate activities of disciplines such as dressage, dressage, equine therapy, polo, polocrosse, rodeo, horseball, reining, jumping, endurance, horseback riding, mounted games, charrería and rodeo.
The president of the Mexican Polo Federation, Miguel Calzada Mercado, indicated that the festival events will have the necessary safety and sanitary measures, so the attendance of many families from Querétaro and other entities in the country is expected.
The announcement of the festival was also attended by the presidents of the Mexican Rodeo federation, Aldo Garibay Olachea, and Charrería, Antonio Salcedo López, as well as the head of Equestrian Development of Querétaro, Ralph Neuman.
