The charm of San Joaquín increases with its height, when the weather turns cold and humid, with the buildings and pictorial vestiges, cold witnesses of the life of its ancient inhabitants. In addition, mining deserves a special mention in the pre-Hispanic history of San Joaquín, named Pueblo Mágico in 2015.

The archaeological zone of Ranas is located 3 km from the municipal seat, at the top of two hills. It is considered an important Ceremonial Center, occupied by the Chichimecas, who acquired importance due to its function as a center of religious, political and economic control. It also offers its visitors other tourist attractions such as: the cave paintings of El Durazno, Los Azogues and San Francisco Gatos.

Las Grutas de los Herrera is a place whose visit is a must, it is an example of the majesty of nature. Inside you can admire the formations of stalactites and stalagmites that are formations of more than 100 million years. The municipal seat has sites of tourist interest such as the Piedra Redonda, the Mirador de la Cruz and the Tree of the Foundation.
