The most important date for the vineyards arrived in Tierra de Alonso, the harvest festivals were lived – on this occasion – at night, between music, grape stomping, dinner, cheeses and a lot of wine on one side of the vines.
Tierra de Alonso is home to one of the oldest cheese factories in the state, in addition to the fact that it has positioned itself as a producer of wine and beer in the region. Halfway between Querétaro and Tequisquiapan is located the farm and a new space that today hosts the grape harvest festival.
The vineyard produces white, rosé and red wines, an offer that has helped the art, cheese and wine route of Querétaro to position itself as the second best tourist route nationwide, an award given at the last Tianguis Turístico de México and which is celebrated with the harvest season.
María José Alonso works in the management of Tierra de Alonso vineyards, she recognizes that the existence of her vineyard has been a family effort. María is the fourth generation to work on Earth, they started with cows and milk production, then they dedicated themselves to cheese, tourism and now wine.
"The harvests cannot be missed, it is the celebration of a whole cycle of the vine, it is to celebrate the fruit that the field gives us," says María José Alonso.
The 2022 harvests mean the return of these celebrations after two years of unemployment due to the pandemic, which became the ideal date to inaugurate a new salon in Tierra de Alonso – across the road from the farm – which will now be used for events and training. It is right in the vineyard area with a spectacular view of the countryside, in a family atmosphere and in direct contact with nature.
For the harvest of Tierra de Alonso, a totally Querétaro menu was presented with cheeses and wines of its own production from the house of land. The preparation was in charge of chef Mariano Torre.
The appetizer consisted of a select board of cheeses of different types, from matured to creamy, accompanied by different compotes and honeys.
In addition, in reference to Querétaro as a rabbit farming state, a rabbit was made with a white wine sauce, accompanied by potato textures and cheese salad. It ended with pears in red wine and of course more cheese.
The grape harvest is the most important festival for the vineyards. In Tierra de Alonso it was lived with joy, euphoria and jubilation, in the middle of the countryside, music and the traditional stomping of grapes, in which people spent very pleasant moments in the company of their loved ones.
