Baroque in style, this convent was built between 1731 and 1745 by the architect Ignacio Mariano de las Casas. In its façade we can find Solomonic columns that protect six niches where the carved sculptures of San Agustín, San Francisco, La Dolorosa, San Juan, Santa Mónica and Santa Rita are; in the middle stands out Christ Crucified known as the Señor de la Portada.
The dome of the temple is adorned on the outside by tiles, and this in turn is surrounded by angels carved in stone who are wearing indigenous attire.
Its cloister is now the Museum of Art of Queretaro, which was founded in 1988 and has more than 15 exhibition halls.
