This precinct was built at the end of the 17th century, and served as a hospital, hospice and convent; its main purpose was to attend to the illnesses of the missionary friars who evangelized in the Sierra Gorda, in addition to teaching them indigenous languages.
After the Reform Laws, this place was sacked and turned into military barracks, until its new congregation in 1884; in the atrium, there is a cross on the occasion of the reinsertion of the friars to the old convent, it was placed in 1950.
