Los Herrera Grotto

The Herrera caves were explored in their entirety in 1978 by American speleologists Roy Jameson and Paty Mottes, in what was the property of Don Benito Herrera, who discovered these caves, which are one of the main attractions of San Joaquin. Located two and a half kilometers from the town, the caves are the only ones in the state of Queretaro equipped with walkways to receive the public, the rooms of the great cave are full of stalactites and stalagmites with the most diverse shapes, which resemble animal figures or even a "cascade of diamonds" that the brightness of the minerals makes reverberate awakening the imagination of visitors.this cave has been formed over thousands of years and today can be appreciated in just a few minutes. Here, nature sculpts in time: stalactites and stalagmites formed in the bowels of the earth.
