Casa Aspeytia once again bears its original name, which dates back to the 18th century. Initially an inn, it later had the honor of serving, for many years, as a barracks for the royalist army, until 1802 when the location of the barracks was moved to Calle del Cebadal.

It was inhabited by Don Luis Mendoza, a hairdresser by profession, and an active supporter of the Independence movement. It was precisely in this house that the warden Ignacio Pérez took the horse that took him to San Miguel de Allende to give the very urgent news sent by La Corregidora, about the discovery of the conspiracy.
Luis Mendoza's name is written in gold letters in the Session Hall of the State Legislature.
