In the Historic Center of Amealco you will find a museum dedicated to the exhibition of the Lelé doll and other handicrafts, where culture, tradition and history converge.
In the Doll Museum, more than 300 handmade handmade dolls are exhibited, originating from the municipality of Amealco de Bonfil and other states of the Mexican Republic. Among them are: Querétaro, Veracruz, Chiapas, Guerrero, Nayarit, Jalisco, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa and Oaxaca.
Recently the handmade doll of Amealco, better known as Lele, was named Cultural Heritage of the state of Querétaro for being one of the most traditional crafts.
A special display case has been allocated to Lele and Dönxhu, who are the essence and raison d'être of the museum, and room two has also been reclassified where visitors can find plant fibres, textiles, pottery/clay and new designs.
In the same way, a room has been destined to exhibit local talent, where plastic artists, mainly painters, exhibit their works in a gallery totally open to the public.
In the first room you can see the dolls that have been placed in the first places of the International Artisan Doll Festival.
In the second corridor are the shelves of the dolls that allude to San Ildefonso Tultepec and Santiago Mexquititlán, which are the representative of the indigenous area of Amealco de Bonfil.
The museum is located next to the main square of the municipality of Amealco, you will find the Municipal Palace, the Parish of Santa María, the kiosk, restaurants and cantinas for an attractive visit to this magical town.
