Located in the municipality of El Marqués, on the Bernal-Cadereyta highway, we can find the Gran Reserva Ecológica del Nuevo Wamerú, a project that seeks to become a national benchmark, promoting the rescue and reproduction of endangered species.
This space is home to numerous species of wild and exotic animals from around the world; It houses more than 500 animals, of which 204 are on display, belonging to 31 species
From big cats such as Lions with imposing manes, or those with characteristic fur patterns such as Jaguars, Tigers and Leopards; Addax or Gemsbok antelopes, tall giraffes, American flamingos, crocodiles, turtles, chimpanzees, spider monkeys and ring-tailed lemurs.
These animals follow specific diets, and require large quantities to supply everyone; The meat consumption of the 35 felines found here alone reaches 175 kilos per day. In addition, many of them are omnivores, so they require more elements, such as fruits, vegetables and various types of meats to complement their diet.
Wamerú invites everyone – families, students, businessmen and the general public – to be part of this transformation.
It is currently open to the public from Friday to Sunday so that you can explore it freely, and in case you are interested, they offer guided tours for groups with prior reservation, where you will learn more about the way of life of their animals.
