José Mansueto, or Cheto – as he is known in his domains – has spent around 20 years dedicated to enhancing tourism in the state of Querétaro. And it is no exaggeration to say that there are few people so focused on making Querétaro a tourist destination of global proportions.

For now, and with that same objective, he dedicates himself to being, as his five-year-old son defines it, a hotelier: someone who builds hotels. His new project in the Sierra Gorda of Querétaro proves it: seven high-luxury and comfort units in the middle of a magnificent tropical forest of the Biosphere Reserve.

Most importantly, it is one of the projects with the least environmental impact that has been done in Mexico. This is the pioneering project of his company Looking México, an integral developer that thinks about the creation of conscious growth poles based on tourism, on the preservation of nature and culture through identity.

Or, as he focuses it: “a disparate collective endowing destinations with more thoughtful ways of enjoying a trip, in giving fresh options, diversity of remote places, a mixture of land with design, of glamor with experience; of memorable trips.”

Looking México seeks to highlight and honor the endemic, to blend with the environment by shaping its architecture with the use of local resources, to generate an identity that does not break... “Each project, appropriate it [...] to convey with this the feeling of the trip and the enjoyment,” and thus he, with passion, describes his creation.

While Looking México continues to develop and sow what will soon be exquisite fruits for those who enjoy traveling with this new vision and feeling, José remains in continuous search of new corners and projects that combine with his objectives and ideals.

Simultaneously, he shares with his wife – in addition to raising their three children – the operation of a charming boutique hotel that summarizes and highlights the colonial spirit of the historic center of Santiago de Querétaro, Hotel Casa Once, and a 28-room quinta-style hotel in Cuernavaca, Morelos.

In parallel, he contributes to the destination by creating projects and providing advice for other providers.
Cheto “the hotelier” is a passionate man, who not only seeks the maximum excellence in the projects he undertakes, no matter how small, but also achieves it and demonstrates that it can be done.

One of his personal phrases, and one that he constantly tells his children, is: How can you do it? And that's how he lives his life too. He has personal idols always for particular reasons, enjoys life in detail, and even more any activity in nature, and also carries many friends in his heart.
