On its deepest side, Colón has been the center of great pilgrimages for being the home of the Virgen de Dolores del Soriano, an invocation of the Virgin Mary considered a truly miraculous image by her faithful.
A People of Faith
The faith that they have lavished on the Virgin of Soriano has turned this municipality into a center of ceremonies attended by more than a million people every April, in addition to making this religious icon a Patron Saint of the Diocese of the state of Querétaro.
Thanks to that, the temple has been elevated to the level of a Basilica, the only one in the state and one of the eighteen that exist in Mexico.
