El Cerrito Pyramid

The archaeological zone of El Cerrito is a pre-Hispanic settlement whose name comes from its resemblance to a small hill.

The pyramid of El Gran Cué -or pyramid of El Cerrito- was an important ceremonial center that was influenced by various cultures, especially the Toltecs, and is the largest pyramid in north-central Mexico, at 30 meters high.

Inside the archaeological zone is the Site Museum, where 125 archaeological pieces, traditional altars and an exhibition on the construction of the space are exhibited for you to discover the history of the pyramid, the origin of the Toltec peoples and the consecration of buildings.
