The Planetarium was inaugurated on June 27, 2015 by Dr. José Hernández Moreno, a Mexican-born engineer, entrepreneur and former U.S. NASA astronaut. Its purpose is to be a center for scientific and cultural dissemination, mainly focused on astronomy and aimed at recreational education as well as didactic learning. It has three main areas: a projection room, a gallery and an observatory, state-of-the-art technology and an 11.2-meter digital screen where spectators can admire the majesty of outer space.
