Travelling the Historic Downtown is not enough: there will always be a plaza where you want to sit down to take a coffee, a temple that you will wish to see again, and a museum that you missed. The truth is that there are always details that stop you: looking to the interior yard of a house, discovering a gargoyle in a balcony, or taking some steps back because the smell of a food stand turned to be more important than the visit to the museum. In Queretaro you have to take things calmly, because here nobody is in a hurry.

Golf Fields

In the surroundings of the city excellent golf fields have been established. This is due to the opportunities that the city presents to such building projects and as a response to its situation as industrial and business center. Some of these golf camps, like the one in Juriquilla and San Gil, besides being subdivisions and hotels, they have been built in Viceregal haciendas which turn them into magnificent scenarios for the practice of this sport.

The Acueduct

The Acueduct is without any doubt, the emblem of the city. Its 74 majestic arches are expanded throughout one kilometer, incorporating themselves in an urban landscape and unifying the Viceregal Queretaro with its modern façade. It was built in the XVII century by the Marquis Don Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana, in order to solve the hydraulic needs of the city. At that time, factories had polluted the water of the rivers and the population suffered thirst. The Marquis had the water brought from the other extreme of the city and distributed it in fountains and deep pools. The legend says that the Marquis was in love of a nun, Sister Marcela, from the Santa Clara convent who asked him the construction of this work to solve the terrible problem that Queretaro suffered.

There are many options to go out partying in Queretaro. The heart of the city is found full of establishments that satisfy all ages, tastes and atmospheres. Due to the fact that everything is near, we recommend you to go from one bar to the other, just to change the music style and people. There are animated streets where music goes out even through windows, or even bars in quiet plazas. Queretanos are long racers and very friendly with foreigners.
