The Center of Mexico presents two advantages. On the first place, it combines two options: the route of the Viceregal cities and the enchantment of a paradisiacal beach. In a second, it adapts itself to the traveler´s time, in a way that traveling through the whole route, or just a part of it, becomes possible. Next, we present some advices to better enjoy this region.

Due to the availability that the touristic circuits present, the state of Querétaro is perfect to be traveled in three days. The first of them could be spent to know its capital, Santiago de Queretaro, and walk through its Historic Downtown admiring the magnificent baroque and neoclassic buildings, intimately joined to the History of the Country, and that have given it the title of World Heritage. The second day could be spent in the Capital surroundings; the semidesert of Queretaro offers the possibility of knowing the vineyards and cheese shops of the region, besides enjoying two typical towns: The Magic Town of Bernal and its incredible monolith, and the calm Tequisquiapan, famous for its thermal waters. The third day is ideal to climb the Biosphere Reserve of the Sierra Gorda and admire the landscape of the four ecosystems that combine their altitudes, besides being able to appreciate the Franciscan Missions, also Heritage Patrimony, and a sublime sample of the mixed Baroque.

If you have enough time, then you will be able to enjoy a mixture of culture and beach through the Center of Mexico. Ten days are the adequate to visit Mexico City, Xochimilco and Teotihuacan. After that, you can go to the route of the Viceregal cities and pass through Queretaro, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato and Morelia, so later you can go South until Ixtapa or some of the nearby beaches and finish the five days left with the paradisiacal places of the Mexican Pacific.

The route of the Viceregal cities includes five indispensable points to know the History and culture of the Center of Mexico. Queretaro, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato and Morelia, are four cities that were before connected by the Camino Real of Tierra Adentro, or  “Ruta de la Plata” (Silver Route), where the mineral wealth of New Spain was transported. The points that touched the Camino Real were important commerce centers where intellectuality and Viceregal art flourished, as it is shown by its constructions. Likewise, due to its privileged economic and cultural position, it was in this cities where the Independence movement emerged and afterwards many of the events that marked the guideline in the development of the Mexican History. These cities are currently World Heritage Patrimony and their historic helmets have been magnificently restored. They count with a wide touristic offer and many hotels have been settled down in old Viceregal mansions.
