This municipality has geographical variety: semi-desert climate in the south (with impressive botanical gardens), wooded area in the north, and an island in the middle of the Zimapán dam, where a quiet ecotourism camping site is located.
Cadereyta was appointed Magical Town in August 2011, as a recognition of its 376 years of history, magic and medicinal wisdom inherited from the nomadic chichimecas, pames and jonaces people who inhabited this region.
The archaeological site of Toluquilla, pre-Hispanic ruins dating back to AD 400, and one of the oldest and most important Franciscan temples in the region is located in this municipality.
